Meet Dr. Nancy Colfer
I was born and raised in the Chicago area. As a teenager, I developed an interest in natural methods of health care and sought out chiropractic treatment for myself. I graduated with high honors at Elmhurst College in Illinois, then enrolled at National University of Health Sciences where I earned a B.S. in Human Biology and, in 1990, a Doctor of Chiropractic degree. While still studying to be a chiropractic physician, I set out to fulfill a dream of seeing the Pacific Northwest. I fell in love with Oregon and moved to Eugene as soon as I graduated. In 1991, I completed the rigorous examinations to become licensed in Oregon and started my practice here in Eugene.
Each year I attend continuing education courses to stay abreast of the latest chiropractic research and practice methods. I have particular interest in rehabilitative exercise to correct muscle imbalances that promote spinal joint dysfunction and prevent the body from receiving the full benefit of chiropractic adjustments. I also keep up my study of nutrition, especially in regards to reducing inflammation in the body. In pursuit of improving my own health and fitness, I discovered the Whole30 system (www.whole9life.com) which I frequently recommend to my patients. I also developed an interest in the sports of CrossFit and Olympic Weightlifting several years ago. In 2014, I completed the Level-1 CrossFit Trainer program, and I have been coaching Special Olympics Powerlifting for the past five years. After completing the certification for the Functional Movement Systems program (www.functionalmovement.com ), I am working at incorporating that method into my practice for even better, long lasting outcomes for my patients.
Today, I live with my family, our poodles and our chickens in Eugene. I enjoy my thriving practice and wonderful patients. When not working, I enjoy lifting weights, working out, visiting the coast, hiking in the woods, reading good books and watching good movies. I'm involved in the community through Soroptimist International of Eugene, the Eugene Chamber of Commerce, and Community Emergency Response Team. I'm also a member of the American Chiropractic Association, the Oregon Chiropractic Association, and the Association of Lane Chiropractors.
